Directed by John Krasinski

Starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

I think this is the first time I ever watched a movie directed by the very funny and handsome John Krasinski. I always have a special place in my heart for hot and funny men.

John Krasinski did not waste anytime to scare the audience. A few minutes after the opening scenes, we are graced by the monster in a post apocalyptic world. Which was followed by a heartbreaking moment where their youngest child is killed and taken by the monster. It initially showed the savagery of the villains and the vulnerability of the main characters.

The cinematography of the whole movie was perfectly planned. The simple flap of the newspaper outside the abandoned grocery, during the opening scenes, explained everything we needed to know to understand their whole situation. The characters did not need to talk at all to explain their situation.

There was little to no flashback scenes to further explain the problem or how things happened. A simple fire on top of a water tank showed that there were other survivors though no other characters was seen in the movie, except for one old man who had a few seconds on the screen.

The simplicity of the movie was flawlessly executed.

Another factor that amazed me is that we were clueless as to how they would kill these creatures. In other creature based movies, you would already have a clue as to how they would kill the monsters. But in this one, we did not know until it was right there on our faces. And that is a big plus for this movie.

In terms of acting, all characters were amazing in how they portrayed their characters. Emily Blunt was just amazing as always.

Over all, I would highly recommend this movie to everyone as it something new and very well directed. But as a horror movie freak, it still lacks the scare factor that Conjuring and Lights Out brings; then again, this is a different kind of horror film so I will give them credit for that.

Kudos to John and Emily for being such an amazing couple and very talented actors.
